Beginners Block Classes

If you're serious about learning to pole dance, Pure Pole Academy's block courses are the way to go. Each week you will build on the moves you know, learning variations and extensions, as well as a variety of linking moves and combinations. By the end of the block you will have a short routine (which get longer or more demanding as you move up through the levels) to showcase your skills. Block classes include a range of exercises to increase your core strength - a must for pole dancers. The courses are 8 weeks long with every student guaranteed a pole to themself.

Beginners 1: Learn our foundation level pole moves, including a variety of spins and a basic pole climb. These classes focus on building strength and co-ordination for pole, as well as learning your first pole routine! Suitable for those with no prior experience.

Beginners 2:In this block you'll learn more spins and static holds, as well as how to start linking them together. Students will also be prepping to invert (go upside down) and will learn a new dance routine!

Beginners 3:In this level you will learn some more advanced spins (including one handed spins) and spin combinations, several static poses up the pole and will work on several inverted tricks and dismounts in preparation for Intermediate 1!

Intermediate Block Classes

If you've made it this far, we figure you're addicted! In the Intermediate blocks you will learn a huge range of new gravity-defying holds, spins and tricks. Strong emphasis is placed on technique, including the muscle groups used and pivot/ contact points of the body as you learn to execute these tricks with poise and control. Students are taught combinations and mini routines, and are encouraged to develop their ability to freestyle and link pole tricks together in their own style. Block classes are 8 weeks long with every student guaranteed a pole to themself. With over 120 unique pole moves across our Intermediate curriculum (and we're still counting!), there is something for every pole dancer!

Because of the nature of these classes, our Intermediate block courses are only available to students who have graduated from Beginner levels, or who have been graded appropriately. We recommend two courses per week for students at the Intermediate level.

Intermediate 1: In this block we'll be concentrating on inverts, including a variety of inverted holds and poses, as well as some more advanced spins. To make a stronger and more versatile dancer, various entries and exits will be taught for moves learn in previous blocks, and we will work on using different levels for your tricks from floor all the way up to the ceiling.

Intermediate 2: By this level you will be confident inverting and doing a range of inverted moves. Students will work on more advanced aerial combinations, a variety of different pole mounts and dismounts including reverse handstand and reverse pushup press downs.

Intermediate 3: By this level you will doing a range of inverted tricks and combinations. Students will work on aerial moves and dead lifting, advanced aerial combinations, a variety of different pole mounts, and will be introduced to some more challenging floor work including shoulder balancing, rolls and handstand press ups/downs. Aerial combinations will be much more demanding and emphasis will be on making the movements look effortless.

Casual Classes

Want to try pole but not sure if it's for you? Or LOVE pole, but can't commit to an 8 week block, right now? Then our Casual Classes are the answer! We have a range of Casual classes, from pole Casuals, to Choreo and Spin Casuals. Check out the class descriptions below!

Casual classes are 45 minutes, with the first 15 minutes of the hour set aside for admin and payments. Attendance is on a casual basis, no bookings required, just turn up! Poles may be shared - and the class is capped at 3 students per pole (or 1 per pole, for Choreo), first come first served!

5 x Class Casual Passes are valid for 3 months and can be used for any Casual classes.

In some cases, we may be able to accept casual attendance in some of our block courses, such as Strength & Conditioning and Floor Flow IF there are spaces available - please check with reception for more details.

Casual (aka Pole Casual)

Our Casual pole classes are focused around learning foundation pole moves, no set routine is taught, but instructors will happily demonstrate how to link moves together into short combinations. Casuals cater to all levels of students (see below for more details). This class is a great way to increase strength, tone up, and concentrate on mastering your foundation pole moves.

All/Mixed Levels: Students of all levels are welcome to attend, including beginners with no prior experience.
No first timers: Students attending Casuals classes marked 'no first timers' must be competant with our five foundation moves, including basic spins and pole climbs. Preferably, the student will have completed at least one beginners block (or higher), but this is not required.

Pure Pole Spin (aka Spin Casual)

Put a new spin on your pole tricks! This mixed level class is open to beginners wanting to learn on a spinning pole, and to people who would like to bring what they love on static over to a spinner. We will concentrate on improving your flow, technique and grace through taught combinations. You will learn variations of popular moves, a variety of links and transitions, and how to adapt your movement to suit the spinning pole. Our instructors are able to cater for all strength and experience levels, and taught combinations are scalable (moves can be replaced with easier or harder variations as required).

Pure Pole Choreo (aka Choreo Casual)

Pole dance isn't just about the tricks! In this class you'll follow your teacher in some fun and sassy pole dance choreography - it's great for cardio and improving your flow and movement! Tone up your legs and butts and work up a sweat in our fabulous Choreo classes. There's a NEW ROUTINE EACH WEEK so you can start any time! Suitable for all levels.

Floor Flow

Who says getting a toned tummy has to be dull and difficult? Work out your abs, butts and thighs in this floor-based exercise class! Follow your instructor as we add sexy twists to tried-and-tested exercise moves such as leg raises, crunches, shoulderstands, bridges and more. Great for flexibility and improving core strength. We recommend particpants wear knee high socks to protect their legs - and feel free to wear heels too; they count as extra weight on your ankles if you want more of a challenge!

Lunch Express Casual

This 45 minute class is perfect for city and valley workers looking to squeeze a quick workout into their lunch breaks! This class is a great way to increase strength, tone up, and concentrate on mastering those foundation pole moves. Students of all levels are welcome to attend, including beginners with no prior experience. Back to Top

Strength & Conditioning and Beginner Stretch

Strength & Conditioning (8 weeks)
Struggling to nail a new pole trick? This class could be the answer! This toning and strengthening boot camp style class will give you a full body workout, concentrating on the major muscle groups used in pole. You will improve your strength, stamina and balance through a variety of drills and exercises. Be prepared to challenge yourself, this class is not for the faint of heart!

Beginner Stretch (8 weeks)
Improve your lines and increase your usable range of movement, so you can finally achieve those pole moves you covet! This class is designed for students who want to achieve splits, full bridges and other moves and is a great option for anyone new to stretching, or for those who have limited flexibility in certain areas. All stretches are designed to complement your pole workouts - after all, the more flexible you are, the easier it will be to get into all those crazy (and beautiful) positions on the pole!

4 Week Specialty Courses / Mini-Blocks

One of our favourite things about pole dance is that it's so diverse - if you want to try out some of the many other styles of pole, why not see which of our mini blocks take your fancy? Many of our students take a 4 week block in addition to their regular 8 week course, to get a taste of something a little different - from Burlesque and Floor Flow through to Doubles Pole and Circus Circuit (Acro, Hula Hoop and more).

Learn tricks with two on a pole! This class is great fun to do with a friend (don't worry, though, we can pair you up if you're coming alone). Improve your strength and coordination through a variety of doubles spins, poses and tricks. Suitable for all levels.

A class done entirely in heels (the style and height is up to you). This class is a great way to improve your all round pole dancing whilst learning how to transition and move in stilettos, and tone up those legs too! Learn how to flaunt-it and strut your stuff in your favorite pair of sexy heels.

Have fun, get fit and strut some sass with Pole Burlesque! Learn a basic burlesque-style warm-up, struts, and classic moves like the bump, grind and shimmy, plus play around with pin-up poses and facial expressions. Then combine this with some beginner pole spins and you've got yourself one sexy workout! The class also includes an introduction to glove and boa tease and chair/floor work, and at the end of the term we will combine your new moves into a simple routine to music!

Handstands, cartwheels, doubles acro balance, rolls and much more. This class is great fun and is an excellent complement to pole, as it will improve your all-round strength, balance and flexibility. No experience necessary, instructors are able to adapt moves to cater for your skill level, including absolute beginners.

TRY SOMETHING NEW! Get fit and have fun with hula hooping! This class is different to any other hula hooping class in Brisbane; during the four-week term your body will learn to adapt to the movement required for hooping, so you will master the skill much quicker! Each week we will run through a simple yet energetic series of drills, and you will also learn fun and easy tricks to combine into a short routine. Quality hula hoops will be available for purchase at every class at a competitive price, plus you can personalize your hoop and have one made with your chosen colours and patterns!

This circuit style class is a fantastic introduction to various elements of circus including hula hoop, acro balance and pole. The course features alternating components, allowing students to get a taste for a mixture of classes such as doubles pole, advanced floor work (shoulder balancing, rolls etc), hooping, spin pole, acrobatics (handstands, cartwheels, roundoffs etc) and circus style/chinese pole tricks. This class has been designed as a 'taster' circuit, so it's a great idea for those who can't make up their minds! Although the course includes doubles pole and doubles acro components, students don't need partners (we are able to pair everyone up if necessary).

4 Week E.R Blocks

E.R (or 'Emergency Room') blocks courses are 4 week speciality blocks that will focus on particular tricks and techniques to help you nail some of your nemesis moves. Think of them as intensive workshops - where everything from the warm up right through the cool down is designed to train and condition the muscles needed to execute these tricks!

This class is great for those of you working on your handsprings, but struggling to 'stick' them - or for those of you who can handspring one way, but want to master some of the other grips, or some variations including the handspring pencil or jacknife. If you've almost got your handspring we are confident you will walk away from this course with an AWESOME one! And for those who don't quite manage, we can guarantee you will leave with all the required tools and technique to practice at home and get your handspring in no time! So long as you are Intermediate 2 level or above, or have started attempting to handspring - this class is for you!

Is the shouldermount one of your nemesis moves? Or can you shouldermount but want to take it to the next level? Then this class is for you! You will learn the tricks and technique to execute this impressive move EVERY time - and for those of you that are ready, we will also be working on variations such as aerial shouldermounts, shouldermount bounces, the shouldermount pencil, hyper shouldermount etc. This move is one you will definitely want in your tool belt, so don't miss out on this ER clinic!

Did you know you that don't even need flat splits, to do the Jade Split? It's true! Our Jade Doctors will show you how in this Flexy Tricks & Splits ER Clinic! If you're looking for better lines, impressive curves or amazing arches, you don't want to miss this course! By focusing on technique, we'll show you the best way to get the most out your flexibility, and nail some beautiful bendy tricks such as the Cocoon, Eagle and Banana Splits. The course also features a stretching component that you can do at home, to directly complement your pole tricks. Let's get sexy flexy!

Ever feel like you've got a whole heap of great pole tricks, but just don't know what to do with them? Breathe life back into your pole dance with this ER Clinic focussing on movement, flow and transitions - including sway squats, step arounds, back arches, poses, kicks, floor work, half spins, direction changes and much much more! Whether you're strong and flexy with kick-ass pole tricks or are still new and working on the basics, this course will teach you how to put it together your OWN way! You'll learn a variety of ways to move around the pole, between poles, from floor to pole (and vice versa) and how to use your beginners, pole prep or foundation moves to frame and decorate your bigger pole tricks. This class is designed to help people learn to freestyle. So whatever level you're at, whatever tricks you can do, this course is a must!

Pure Pole Prodigy (Invitation Only)

Pure Pole's exclusive training program designed specificallty for students who have mastered the basics of pole dancing and would like to take their performance skills to the next level! Pure Pole Prodigy isn't about the hardest tricks, or the craziest combos - it is about taking what you can do, and turning it into a great performance! We also cater for competitive pole dance training, for those wanting to enter the competition circuit.

Sign Ons

New to the Pure Pole Academy? Come along to a sign on session to see our studio, meet the instructor and be given a demonstration of some of the things you will learn during the block. If you haven't already, you can pay for your block on sign on day. If you are not a beginner but are unsure of what level you are, instructors are available on during sign on sessions to give you a quick grading assessment. Open Days / Sign On Sessions are typically schedule just before the first week of term.

Gradings

A 20 minute one-on-one lesson with an instructor who will individually grade you. Gradings are a good choice if you have already learnt pole dancing before and want to start at a higher level class than Beginner, or if you would like to be graded to see what level you are at.

Mother's group (available on request)

A pole class designed specifically for mothers to attend and have fun and get fit with other mums. The class goes for one hour and includes a warm up and cool down - we focus on the specific needs of postnatal women to help you get your pre-baby body back! Children aged 0 - 3 are welcome.

Pure Pole Power (Men's Class)

This class focuses on strength based moves of a high difficulty level, predominantly those involving core and upper body strength. You will increase your strength, build stamina and improve endurance as we combine core strength moves in various combinations. We will also concentrate on correct technique required to execute power moves, such as the flag, handsprings and aerial shouldermounts. This class involves a lot of aerial time and is suitable for advanced women or men with good upper body and core strength. (Please contact management to confirm your suitability, prior to booking on).

Open Practice Times

Open practice time is available to members and non-members.
Members only practice time is limited to members only.

Personal Training

Although pole dancing itself is a fantastic workout, many students (and instructors too!) take part in personal training to help them reach their goals faster. Pole dancing at all levels requires significant strength, co-ordination, stability and endurance. Personal training sessions are 45 minutes long with 10 minutes at the end for stretching and massage.
